Idea
Tanoak started with two brothers, a background in fashion, and a feeling that something was missing.
Our family has been part of the fashion world for years, supplying statement pieces across the globe. We grew up around the industry. We saw the products, the people, the trends, and the constant search for something that feels different.
Eventually, we started asking ourselves:
Why not build something of our own?
Not just another store.
Something with a point of view.

We believe in building respectful, responsible, and long-term relationships with our artisans, giving their experience and craft the recognition it deserves.
Their knowledge and hands-on expertise help us turn timeless designs into products that feel authentic, thoughtfully made, and built with purpose.
Our Approach to Materials
We see plastic and industrial waste becoming an ever-growing part of the world around us. Instead of adding to that cycle, we wanted to explore how materials that already exist could be given a new purpose.
When developing TANOAK, this became a small but meaningful part of the way we wanted to make things. We looked beyond simply choosing materials for their appearance or performance and started asking where they come from, how they are made, and what happens to them after their first use.
That thinking led us to TerraShield™ Canvas — our proprietary N66-based canvas made using recycled post-industrial waste.
For us, this is not about claiming to solve a much larger environmental problem. It is simply our small step in making a more responsible choice. By incorporating recycled materials and designing products to be durable and long-lasting, we hope to reduce unnecessary waste and make pieces that stay in use for years.
